(Re) Visiting an Old Friend

Posted by Kerry on September 3rd, 2008

There are some pieces of Mixx that haven’t changed since we launched just under a year ago or the changes have been so slight that we’re probably the only ones that noticed them. We’re changing that today–and it’s step one of some other revisits we have on the docket.

Up today, our old friend the View Details page. Also called the story page. Or the permalink page. Call it what you will, its got a new look today.

We left our engineers with some time on a Friday afternoon recently and they came up with these really cool charts showing some interesting activity around stories and votes and activity. We decided to share this coolness with our entire audience. When we went to do so, though, we realized that we needed an overall redesign.

We started from scratch, looked at what we really wanted people to do on the pages (mainly vote and comment) and redesigned the page with that focus in mind.

We’d love to hear from you, our awesome Mixxers, on whether we’ve done that.

As always, mucho love,

~The Mixx Team

    Mixx Tweaks Their Interface…

I bopped on over to Mixx this afternoon to submit a link, and as I often do while I’m there, I visited my profile to see how my previous submissions were doing. I noticed several of them had been voted…

Cool job there! I love the stats!

The groups/communities where the story has been submitted
are now shown in a much neater way… Thanks!

Oh yeah, and I love the stats! :-)

Would so much help if we didn’t have to go thru the Categories and Communities one by one (via drop down menu) after submitting or re-Mixxing Wish we could checkmark the ones we want to add. Would save so much time. An example is NY TIMES or CNN submissions. Unless you are on CAPTCHA status you have to fill in all the category and group info one by one after the automatic submission. It’s a bit tedious!

    @VioletPlanet,
Hey, just wanted to let you know that you can do all that during the submit process, so you do not have to go back after submitting to make those changes. On step 2 of the submit process, there is an area titled: “Where would you like to submit this story?” that allows you to choose up to 8 categories, as well as the ability to submit it to your groups and communities.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Will
